(Saudi Electronic University) Students of the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) achieved Top Ranks at Black Hat Conference
The CCI students achieved top ranks in the ‘Bug Bounty Cup’ and ‘Capture The Flag’ Competitions at Black Hat Conference that is organized by the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones in partnership with General Entertainment Authority.
This was in the final ceremony of the competition that is launched for the first time in the region. The event took place in Riyadh for 3 days to exchange experiences and get informed by the latest technology to encounter challenges and enhance Cyper skills.
Basm AlAballah, a master’s student at SEU-Cypersecurity program, received the sixth rank in the ‘Capture The Flag’ Competition with his team among 200 other teams and 1000 participants coming from 35 different countries. Moreover, Abdurahman Albatel, who is SEU alumni, received Third Place in the ‘Bug Bounty Cup’.
The honoring ceremony was attended by the university, including His Excellency the Acting Dean of the College of Computing and Informatics and the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research/ Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Jabr and His Excellency the Head of the Information Technology Department/ Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Hamid Kutbi.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al-Jabr expressed the victory of the two students by saying: We congratulate all the employees of the university and the senior management under the leadership of Her Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Lailak bint Ahmed Al-Safadi, for this achievement, which, praise be to God, shows the level, capabilities, and capabilities of the college’s outputs.
Al-Jabr continued by saying: The Black Hat event allowed all those interested and amateurs in the field of cybersecurity to go through technical challenges and inspiring experiences as well as interact with experts and heads of the cybersecurity sector which makes them a measure of responsibility to enhance the Kingdom’s leadership in this field by preparing human capabilities from all segments of society in Technical majors.
Al-Jabr concluded by saying: I extend my sincere thanks to all the participating students for their effort and for honoring us in this competition. I also thank Dr. Suha bint Abdullah Al-Hilali, Vice Dean for Female Student Affairs, for her effort in supporting and following up with the college students in such competitions.
