(Umm Al-Qura University) The College of Nursing Holds a Forum Entitled “Patient Care Technician” in Cooperation with the Applied College

The College of Nursing at Umm Al-Qura University, in collaboration with the College of Applied Medical Sciences, on Sunday morning, 4 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1443 A.H., held an orientation meeting for the trainees of the “Patient Care Technician” program. The meeting was arranged at King Abdulaziz Supporting Hall (1) in the presence of His Excellency the Dean of the Applied College, Prof. Saleh Al-Furaih, Her Excellency the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Fatima bint Jabr Al-Sulami, His Excellency the Supervisor of the Academic Health Program Support Unit, Dr. Muhammad Zamzami, their excellencies the vice deans, heads of the departments, and the academic and administrative staff.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency the Dean of the Applied College, Prof. Saleh Al-Furaih, thanked the university administration for their keenness and continuous support for the university’s campuses and for the active role they play in serving the youth of the country. Next, he congratulated the trainees on their admission to the program, advising them to be diligent and persistent.

This was followed by the speech of Her Excellency the Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr. Fatima Al-Sulami, who appreciated the efforts made by the university administration to make the educational process a success. She specifically congratulated the trainees who were accepted into the “Patient Care Technician” program for this year 1443 A.H. This was because it is the first class of Umm Al-Qura University and Saudi universities which contributes to medical rehabilitation in order to provide optimal care to patients, in accordance with the healthcare system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in line with the vision of the Saudi Kingdom 2030. She prayed to Allah to guide them in their scientific and practical career. Moreover, she advised them to be serious in their training period and to focus on academic attainment and on benefitting as much as possible from the material taught.

After that, the Vice Dean of the College of Nursing for Academic Affairs and Director of the Program, Dr. Nawal Abdul-Ghani, gave an overview of the program, reviewing its training plan and mentioning the tasks that a Patient Care Technician performs in their field of work. She concluded her speech highlighting the services provided to the trainees to overcome the difficulties they might face related to educational affairs.

The Director of the College of Nursing Administration and Specialized Program Coordinator, Talal Al-Abdali, also spoke about the impact of the development of the educational and health sector in the country’s renaissance and advancement. He noted the remarkable development during the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trusted Crown Prince, may Allah safeguard them. In his speech, he addressed the means of communication and the facilities provided to the program’s affiliates on the College of Nursing website. Finally, he answered all the trainees’ inquiries and questions.

At the end of the forum, Dr. Al-Sulami thanked His Excellency the Dean of the Applied College and His Excellency the Supervisor of the Academic Health Program Support Unit for their efforts to make the program a success.
