Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University Filmmaking, Animation and Photography will be inserted within the college’s programs for the new academic year at PNU

The Design and Arts College at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University is introducing new two programs for the new academic year:

  • Filmmaking and Animation
  • Photography for undergraduates

The admission procedures have been completed to start for the new academic year 2020-2021, in response to the needs of the Saudi labor market and in line with the requirements of achieving the Saudi Vision 2030.

The Dean of the College of Art and Design Dr. Maha Khayyat explained that in order to create the “Filmmaking and Animation” program, various design and technical processes has been taken into consideration to enable the graduates to make animated films that are growing globally using the latest technologies to let students compete locally and globally. She noted also the importance of linking the product to the culture of Saudi Arabia in order to enhance the national identity.  She added that the program includes courses to provide students with various skills in: moving pictures, designing cartoon characters, the basics of writing films and soundtracks and other areas of specialization.

On the other hand, Dr. Maha Khayyat commented on the “Photography” program, saying that it awards the student a bachelor’s degree in Photography to practice photography as one of the fields of visual arts, stressing that the program focuses on providing the students with the various skills of static and moving photography to enable them practice all ways of photography such as: photohooting products, fashion shows events and photojournalism.

Dr. Maha Khayyat confirmed as well that the university has provided both human and material capabilities from studios, laboratories, and computer programs to ensure high quality in training the skills of its various programs, which are taught by specialized academics and in cooperation with a number of prominent professionals in the labor market. College of Designs and Arts will seek to involve the female students in joint projects to work together and to train them to engage in the labor market.

It is worth noting that the College of Design and Arts is currently working on building new programs with different degrees to meet the needs of the labor market for designs and arts in cultural aspects and qualify young women cadres in order to contribute to the creation of artistic and cultural content to enhance the national identity of the country. In addition to resettlement the designs and arts careers and cover the need with highly qualified and professionally trained cadres to actively contribute to the development processes in the Kingdom.
